The Baby College is a seven-week virtual or nine-week in-person workshop that supports new and expectant parents and other caregivers through the ins and outs of early childhood development.

Our GRADS program empowers new and expectant parents to strengthen the bonds between themselves and their children through at-home support and community events.

Harlem Gems is our preschool program designed to stoke a love of learning in our young scholars and put them on the path to college and career. There are two Harlem Gems locations, at 60 West 117 Street and 381 Lenox Avenue.

Start building a bright future for your child by submitting their application to Harlem Children’s Zone Promise Academy, our premier K-12 charter schools, today! Three-year-olds are encouraged to apply now so that they can start kindergarten at Promise Academy after they finish preschool.
To apply, visit the Promise Academy application page. Once you apply, your child has the opportunity to be entered into a lottery and assigned a random number. If your child’s number is called during the lottery (date to be determined), they will be accepted into Promise Academy and will begin at the school in kindergarten. If your child is not entered into the lottery, or their number is not chosen during the lottery, they will be placed on a waitlist. To find out your child’s number on the waitlist, call 646-539-5941. We also update the waitlist regularly and will notify you if your child becomes accepted.

Youth Programs

Peacemakers partners with Harlem’s public elementary and middle schools to provide in-school and after-school support, as well as summer programming. Peacemakers operates from PS 149, PS 76, PS 197, and PS 154.

A Cut Above is an after-school program for scholars in grades K-8 that offers academic and creative enrichments, as well as real-world opportunities to cultivate career interests, engage in community service, and learn about life in college. Scholars enjoy academic tutoring, STEM-based learning, organized sports, arts projects, and much more.

Academy of Arts and Civic Engagement offers high school scholars an immersive learning experience in the arts. Programs include:

Countee Cullen Community Center offfers high school scholars the opportunity to explore the field of media arts and broadcasting through hands-on experience and networking with industry experts. Programs include:

- Screenwriting
- Podcasting and radio
- Stop motion graphics
Center for Higher Education and Career Support (CHECS) helps high school scholars successfully prepare for college, persist through college, and build their careers.

Health and Community Programs

Community Pride is a program and storefront office that invests in the people and spaces of Central Harlem. It focuses on community outreach and organizing, neighborhood revitalization, leadership development, and public programs.

Community Benefits Support program facilitates access for Harlem residents to government resources and provides free legal services, financial counseling, and tax preparation.

Healthy Harlem helps scholars and families learn how to take better care of themselves, make thoughtful choices, and establish lifelong healthy habits. The program offers fitness classes, cooking classes, Wellness Wednesday workshop series, and Harvest free and fresh produce distribution.

Emotional Wellness provides community education, training, emotional wellness resources, and overall mental health promotion to Harlem Children’s Zone staff, scholars, and community members.

The Armory is a multi-purpose, community wellness center offering high-quality fitness programming to scholars, families, and staff of Harlem Children’s Zone. In addition, the Armory offers free or low-cost fitness programming to members of the Harlem community.
